We usually fall into one of the following camps. Which one are you?
Camp 1: Never Considered investing
Happy with cash savings, haven’t got enough to invest. Cash savings are safe and predictable.
Camp 2: Reluctant to invest
Happy with cash savings as never know when you’ll need the money.
You’re afraid of investing. You don’t understand it, don’t want to lose your money, risky, akin to gambling etc.
You’re completely squeezed financially and haven’t got the spare cash to invest.
Camp 3: Curious about investing
Want to get started but not sure how.
Camp 4: Experienced investor
You’re investing already. Are you doing it in the most cost effective and tax optimised way?
If you’re coming late to personal finance and investing, you’re possibly juggling children/young adults and ageing parents, a job, and managing your home. Life is busy and any income you bring in is usually already accounted for. Maybe investing has just never been on your radar. Anything left over might go into savings or a cash ISA, or maybe a pension.
I’ll be publishing regular blog posts offering golden nuggets of information on saving and investing and practical tips. Talking money doesn’t need to be dry, boring, intimidating, or complicated. I’ll be keeping it simple and practical with a sprinkle of humour. I’m going to be taking you on a journey and at the end I hope you’ll feel enlightened and inspired to take control, knowing that if you get your financial ducks in a row, there’s a reassuring promise at the end.
Each small step you take will compound over time and before you realise it, you will become more knowledgeable about personal finance and will have the confidence and practical knowledge to set things up for yourself.
You’ll start to feel more in control over money which then makes you feel more positive about the future. This will give you a sense of power and agency over your life!
